To accompany St. Piran’s Day celebrations in Cornwall, RISE UP is excited to bring its Travelling Exhibition to the town of Redruth. We will join the day’s festivities and open the doors of Redruth Library for visitors to see our exhibition on the first stop of its journey.
About the exhibition: RISE UP commissioned an artist from each of its 5 selected minoritised language communities to create an artwork that communicates a unique message, an image, or a feeling to the viewer. Our five artists were asked the questions: What would you say to your community? What would you like to say to people from outside of your community? They have created five beautiful pieces, which we are thrilled to show you.
Join us at this immersive exhibition which puts minoritised languages in the foreground and celebrates these community-focused artists. Alongside the artwork will be informative panels about each language, where we can come together to learn about each others’ cultures, languages and lived realities.
The exhibition stops in Cornwall for one weekend only, before travelling on to its next location. All exhibition information is available both in English and Cornish/Kernewek.
Our sincerest thanks to the wonderful staff of Redruth Library for hosting us!
